What does receiving help look like from the other side?
shards of my life
Shards of My Life is a new graphic memoir exploring youth mental health
through Bean’s story. Through comics and commentaries, the book
explores self-harm, identity and the search for help, while inviting readers
to rethink how young people can be supported across school, healthcare,
mentorship and community.
Developed over two years in collaboration with Bean to tell her life story from ages 10 to 14, the book opens up important conversations about what support looks and feels like from a young person’s perspective.

Upcoming Events
How can we better support young people? Starting with the Shards of My Life book launch, this series of events hopes to bring together practitioners, partners and the wider community. Each Conversation Circle uses excerpts from the book as a starting point for peer learning on a different aspect of youth support.
